The First Stage of LNRS Mapping is Complete

13/8/24

New maps for Norfolk and Suffolk have been published, showing Areas of Particular Importance for Biodiversity (APIB) as defined by DEFRA.

These are the first mapping milestones of each county’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy, and connect with the APIB maps of other counties to form a consistent national baseline of existing designated nature sites and irreplaceable habitats.

To introduce the various designations in a clear and accessible way, the LNRS mapping team based at Norfolk County Council have created a StoryMap for each county, an interactive web format that presents the map layers longside text descriptions and photography to help a general audience connect the data to the unique and beautiful habitats they represent.

For expert users, each StoryMap links to the full APIB map in the page menu which can be found under the header image. We recommend viewing the StoryMaps using a desktop device for the best viewing experience.
